Compatibility & Fitment

This probe kit is specifically designed for the specialized control boards found in Recteq (formerly Rec Tec) grills. Key compatible models include:

• RT-B380 Bullseye: Specifically designed for the high-heat searing capabilities of the Bullseye.
• Stampede & Trailblazer: RT-590 and RT-340 models.
• The Bull: RT-700 flagship wood pellet grill.
• Other Models: Compatible with RT-1250, RT-2500 BFG, and any Recteq controller equipped with 3.5mm probe ports.

When to Replace

• Inaccurate Readings: The probe shows "LLLL" or "HHHH" error codes, or the temperature jumps erratically by 50°F or more.
• No Reading: The grill controller does not register that a probe is plugged in (often displays "---").
• Kinked or Burnt Wires: The braided wire has been pinched in the grill lid or has come into direct contact with the fire pot/deflector plate.
• Moisture Failure: The probe was accidentally submerged in water or left out in the rain, causing the internal resistor to short-circuit.

Installation Tips

• Avoid Direct Flame: Even though the lead is stainless steel, direct contact with the flames of the Bullseye in "Riot Mode" can damage the internal sensor. Ensure the wire is routed away from the fire pot.
• Cleaning: Use a damp soapy cloth to wipe down the stainless steel probe tip. Avoid getting water into the braided section or the jack.
• Routing: Use the dedicated probe port hole on the side of your Recteq hopper or grill body. Do not pinch the wire between the heavy lid and the grill frame, as this is the #1 cause of probe failure.
• The Clip: Place the ambient clip near the food, but not touching it, to get the most accurate reading of the air temperature circulating around your meat.
• Calibration Check: Periodically test your probe in a glass of ice water; it should read close to 32°F (0°C) to ensure your long-haul smokes remain accurate.
