When to Replace
- Visible signs of damage, such as cracks or deep gouges in the brass body.
- Threads on either connection are stripped, damaged, or cross-threaded.
- Propane leaks are detected from the adapter body, valve, or connections (audible hiss or odor).
- The control valve is seized, difficult to turn, or does not shut off the flow completely.
- The pressure gauge is non-functional, provides erratic readings, or has a cracked lens.
Installation Tips
- Always perform refilling in a well-ventilated outdoor area, away from any flames or ignition sources.
- For a more complete fill, place the empty 1 lb cylinder in a freezer for 15-20 minutes prior to filling.
- Ensure both the adapter's control valve and the large tank's service valve are fully closed before connecting.
- Attach the adapter to the large source tank first, then attach the 1 lb cylinder. Hand-tighten all connections.
- Invert the source tank to allow liquid propane to flow into the 1 lb cylinder.
- Open the source tank valve, then slowly open the adapter's control valve to begin the transfer.
- Close all valves and disconnect the 1 lb cylinder once the sound of propane transfer stops or the gauge indicates it is full.
