When to Replace

• Difficulty Starting: The engine requires repeated kicks or turns even when the choke is engaged, often due to clogged internal pilot jets.
• Hesitation or "Bogging": The engine sputters or dies when the throttle is opened quickly, indicating a lean condition or restricted main jet.
• Fuel Overfilling: Gas is leaking out of the overflow tube while the vehicle is parked, signifying a stuck or worn internal float needle.
• High Idle/Surging: The engine RPM hangs high or fluctuates wildly, typically caused by an air leak at the intake manifold or a worn throttle slide.

Installation Tips

• Check Your Clearance: Before installing the 38mm air filter, ensure you have enough frame clearance. If space is tight, you may need an angled foam filter or a 45-degree intake adapter.
• The Gasket Sandwich: Ensure the insulating spacer (the thick plastic piece) is placed between the intake pipe and the cylinder head to prevent the fuel in the carburetor from boiling.
• Cable Adjustment: After installing, ensure the throttle cable has 2–3mm of "play." If the cable is too tight, the engine will idle dangerously high as soon as it starts.
• Mixture Tuning: Start with the air-fuel mixture screw at 1.5 to 2 turns out from fully seated. Adjust in 1/4 turn increments until the engine revs cleanly without hesitation.
• Fuel Filter Direction: Ensure the arrow on the fuel filter points toward the carburetor. Always use a fresh tank of 91+ octane fuel to prevent immediate clogging of the new jets.
