Compatibility & Fitment

This kit is designed for the widely used Walbro WYL series rotary valve carburetors found on many small 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines. Key compatible models include:

• Shindaiwa Models: R200, S200, T230, T231, T2500, XS200, XT2500.
• Honda Engines: GX22, GX31.
• Echo & Ryobi: GT1100, CS221, and various 26cc / 31cc handheld trimmers.
• Note: Specifically fits Rotary Valve carburetors. If your carburetor has a traditional flat "butterfly" throttle plate, this kit will not be compatible.

When to Replace

• Stiff or Brittle Diaphragms: The engine starts but dies immediately or won't draw fuel because the internal diaphragms have lost their flexibility and can no longer "pump" fuel.
• Engine Surging: The RPMs fluctuate wildly at idle or mid-throttle, often caused by a pinhole leak in the metering diaphragm.
• Hard Starting: Excessive pulls are required to start, or the primer bulb stays sucked in, indicating a blockage in the internal screens or a failed check valve.
• Fuel Leaking: Gas is seeping from the carburetor seams or the primer bulb base, which poses a significant fire hazard.
• Long-Term Storage: If the equipment has sat for more than one season with fuel inside, the gaskets have likely "varnished" and require replacement to restore proper airflow.

Installation Tips

• Work on a Clean Surface: Carburetor internals are extremely sensitive to dust. Use a clean, lint-free cloth and a tray to keep the small needle and springs from rolling away.
• Note the Gasket Order: Pay close attention to the sequence of the gaskets and diaphragms as you remove them. Installing a diaphragm before a gasket (or vice versa) can prevent the fuel pump from functioning.
• Clean the Passages: While the carburetor is disassembled, use a dedicated carburetor cleaner spray and compressed air to blow out all internal ports and the fine metal screen area.
• Do Not Poke the Jets: Never use a wire or needle to clean the internal brass jets, as this can enlarge the holes and permanently ruin the carburetor's fuel-air calibration.
• The Primer Test: Once reassembled, press the primer bulb 10 times. You should see fuel fill the bulb and return to the tank via the clear line, confirming the internal valves are sealing correctly.
